At this moment the software industries are regularly asking disk manufacturers to produce disks with a long playing time up to and over 80 minutes. Some people are confused about the maximum playing time, by which disks appear in the market that do not fulfill the requirements laid down in the Red Book or IEC document.
Although the Red Book does not specify a maximum playing time, this time can be easily derived from the limits of the parameters in the Red Book. Seems like software manufacturers would be concerned with yellow book specs which is cd-rom data disk, not redbook which is audio only and not concerned with playing time, but with space on a cd. May be a typo or oversight by ODME, or maybe they mean audio cd software manufacturers, but software and playing time, I'm a bit confused with that statement.
At least, that's how I understood it to work. On the same token, it can make 45 minutes of material take up an entire disc if used in the opposite direction.
Far more players seem to have difficulty playing gigarec enabled discs than discs that have simply been overburned. Chris Cavell CavellStudios Mastering.
