Couple more to go. Two albums, plus one live and one best of, and then hopefully I'm done. Album Rating: 3. Album Rating: 2. Jungle is pretty great but there's a lot of crap here. The second half is where it's starts losing me perhaps a tad bit boring with the exception of never goes away in my opinion.
Are you fucking kidding me?! What a heaping pile of horseshit this review is, this album doesn't even come close to grunge, maybe "I walk alone" sorta is but since when would "Jungle" "I will Be There" or songs like that grunge? If anything this is really a Sabnath inspired album I mean "It never goes away" could totally be a zabbath song, genes bass tone even sounds loke geezwr a bit, I'd call thos album Doom Metal or kust plain heavy metal Tell Me - Kiss - Carnival Of Souls (CD definently not grunge, I used to think that too because I only saw the cover but never actually listened to it, now it's probablyy favorite Kiss album.
Sorry for the fucking typos Idk wtf happened. A guy named KISS70, wonder what your favorite band is lol. This is clearly influenced by a lot of the great Seattle grunge bands. Funny how you call out "Jungle" and "It Never Goes Away" as entirely different from grunge when they're the closest sounding to that style here. I will agree it's not as bad as most people write it off as, and I will agree that the review bashes the band more than it should tho.
Review by Pedro B. Review Summary: Trash metal. Rank: 0 for A successful reunion tour had allowed the group to, once again, milk their old hits and regain most of their lost momentum.
However, the previous formation, with guitarist Bruce Kulick and drummer Eric Singer, had never been officially disbanded, and in fact a whole album had been recorded, only to be shelved when the reunion became a reality. But I digress. What does the album sound like, you ask.
There were no more lighting shows, cool clothes or effects. The musicians dressed like beggars. And it was a grunge album. Never ones to shy away from sounding hypocritical or jumping on bandwagons, Stanley and Simmons tried to ride the grunge gravy train. The problem? I absolutely loved it back then. I like almost every song, and this record was historic for Bruce Kulick.
Kiss fans latched onto this one as an early favourite. Clarke classic. It is a beautiful, sparse, strictly acoustic piece Album) a soaring vocal. It is a powerful bass-driven groove, with the kind of anthemic Paul chorus that keeps me coming back. I love this song, and when I played it in the store, people loved it too. Heavy, angry, weird.
It sounds a little like heavy Beatles. The verses sound much like outtakes Album) The Elderwith strings and a dark vibe. The song alternates between heavy choruses and quiet verses, much like the popular music of the time…. It has a killer riff and could have fit on any number of Kiss albums.
Imagine it recorded by the original lineup. It was the fashion. Strangely enough, this song never made any of the bootleg discs out there. Perhaps it was never meant to be on the album? The biggest disappointment with this album was the packaging. The band decided against the original cover art, and to avoid confusion put the bare-faced lineup on the cover. Great review, Mike! I really enjoyed this album and still do.
I think I probably prefer it to Revenge. I wonder if they made a mistake sitting on it, I seem to remember it being pretty well reviewed when it finally came out, especially in the guitar mags. Was it just the reunion tour that clashed with it or did they get cold feet about the direction, I wonder?
Like Like. I wonder too man. The official reason given in interviews at the time was always the reunion. And they were always cagey on the release of it, at one point Gene said the whole album would be included in the box set. But I think you nailed it when you mention cold feet. Great review and I agree on just about everything. Love this album. So underrated, Tell Me - Kiss - Carnival Of Souls (CD.
The reason it got released was because of all the bootlegging. The chose a really indiscreet cover because they wanted everyone to know that this was not officially the new Kiss album.
I have no problem with an indiscreet cover…but the lack of a booklet and liner notes was really disappointing to me. You know what I mean? As for the bandwagon…well, again, it was And I guess from his perspective, it was! Smashing Pumpkins. Pearl Jam. Stone Temple Pilots did a show wearing Kiss makeup. Alice In Chains did a video of them applying Kiss makeup. Tell Me - Kiss - Carnival Of Souls (CD know. Starting inKISS had also proven to be followers rather than trendsetters.
John with his faster than lightning shredding. This would this time end with them falling flat on their face with what can only be described as a terrible album. Luckily for Stanley and Simmonstheir reunion tour with Peter Criss and Ace Frehley was still going strong so it seems that they were forgiven for the lacklustre Carnival Of Souls.
The beginning of that album is a warning of things to come. So who do you blame for this catastrophic album? Simmons and Stanley of course have to take most of the heat for following the leader once again in their quest for their next big hit.
Kulick also is likely to blame given that the guitarist has co-writing credits on Tell Me - Kiss - Carnival Of Souls (CD of the twelve songs on the record. Hopefully not but you never know when Simmons and Stanley will succumb one again to the allure of potential album sales.
May 27, · Carnival of Souls is, in my opinion, a very good album. It is not a typical KISS album. For the first thing, the songs aren’t all about sex and partying. Secondly, there isn’t a single danceable tune on the album either. It’s darker and heavier than many of their earlier albums. I love Revenge and Carnival of Souls is even heavier than that/5(). Tell me what you want me to be I can't stand myself anymore Tell me what you want me to see I can't find my way off the floor Took me like a hurricane I think it's gonna rain, yeah I think it's gonna rain Rain down on me Tell me what you want me to hear Whisper words inside of my head Thunder like a gun in my ear Clouds are burstin' over my bed.
